National City

National City used to be called EL Rancho del Rey and was a land they the Spanish would let their horses graze freely, eventually President Andrew Johnson named this piece of land the National Ranch.  In 1868, three brothers Kimball purchased the entire national ranch, they eventually developed it, brought in the railroad and started calling  National City.

Naional City is n borders with Chula Vista, San Diego and Bonita.  Also a part of San Diego called Lincoln Acres.  National City is about 8 miles from the Mexican border.  As a recent study National City holds a medium income of $29,826.  Crime has dropped significantly since the 1980s and the National City Police Department is proactive in anti-gang and drug activity.

This City has 10 elementary schools.  they are; Central, El Toyon, Ira Harbison, John Otis, Kimball, Las Palmas, Lincoln Acres, Olivewood Palmer Way, Rancho de la Nacion, and Integrity Charter School.  The middle schools are; National City Middle School, Granger Jr High School.  The high school for the city is: Sweetwater High School.

National City has been recognized as to be one of he first to have an auto-mall in the world.  National City also holds part of the naval base of  San Diego.  There is also the only all large in-door mall in San Diego County that has recently been remodeled and expanded with many new shops and features.

In certain parts of National City you will find historical Victorian style homes that date back to the 1800s.  You will find homes with ample land and space that was part of the original map plan.
